Pumpaamo competition (2012)

With architect Paolo Caravello

The competition is part of  Helsinki’s World Design Capital program. The aim was to upgrade a pumping station. The location is great: by the sea and surrounded by forest, near the city center and just a stone’s throw away from the sports complex. The project, instead of trying to camouflage the ugly pump, creates an upraising multipurpose wall, that loosely wraps it. The wooden wall is high enough to climb on it and makes the new attraction visible even from the other side of the bay.
