Cohousing (2008)
M. Sc. thesis at Università degli studi di Trieste, Italy
Professors: Giovanni Corbellini and Giovanni Damiani
Collaboration with ing. Korenika from ATER (regional agency for social housing)
The project introduces for the first time the cohousing typology in Trieste’s social housing.
The aim is to plan a different type of dwellings that share several common facilities (from the kitchen to the gym, from the library-living room to the workshop), in order to obtain a higher quality, without increasing the budget. A “snake” gathers all the shared areas and the smaller flats, while a “carpet” host a dense network of patio houses. Density, as a way of foster connection and create lively areas, is achieved both vertically and horizontally.
